When I find a new album I love, I listen to it obsessively. I let it carve a new synaptic track. The addition of new music to my internal catalogue has slowed to a crawl since having babies, but it’s never stopped. So you may only see one new album added every six months or so here, but you can be sure that if it’s in this list, I’m listening to it as I type, and walk, and cook, and bathe, and lie on the floor with Monkey and Sparrow, and as I lay my head on my partner’s chest and dream about tomorrow.
Gillian Welch: The Harrow and the Harvest
Exquisite. That picking banjo, the melancholy voice that’s velvet with an iron edge. And my current mantra “hard times ain’t gonna rule my mind no more”.
